Tokyo is the electric heart of Japan, fuelled by Animé, technology, robots and sizzling street food. This city is where your inner child has permission to roam wild amongst the infamous seven-storey Sega arcade in Akihabara or the cartoon-style fashion hub of Harajuku. Here your days will be filled with themed cafes, arcade-hopping, unique out-of-this-world experiences and by night you’ll hit the after-dark nightlife of the city; from karaoke bars to late night sushi hubs.

Kyoto
From the bright lights of Tokyo, just a bullet train away you will find the idyllic historical town of Kyoto which feels like stepping back into time to a scenes of a Japanese fairytale. You will stroll down cobbled streets amongst beautifully sculpted shrines, pop into tea houses and kimono shops and enjoy the tranquil and lush greenery that this storybook corner of Japan has to offer.

We will be experiencing this unique and multi-sensory country like locals! This means that we will be hopping on and off the Shinkansen that will make you feel like you're in a time machine hurtling into the future. We'll also be using Tokyo's subway system is like a meticulously choreographed dance, and Kyoto's buses are designed for exploring ancient wonders. Transport in Japan is efficient, fast, and mind-blowingly advanced and serves as one of the biggest parts of this adventure!

This additional and electrifying Tokyo adventure takes you through vibrant arcades, then catapults you into real-life Mario Kart racing through the city streets, followed by a cosplay themed photoshoot in Harajuku (Bring your best outfit!) You'll get to release your inner child in Hello Kitty Land and experience one of Japan's wildest dinner shows where neon, robots, and lasers create an out-of-this-world feast for the eyes. A different way of travelling
Our Tokyo Dreams Adventure is unique to our other Travel Addicts hosted trips. You will be utilising public transport, trains, buses (and be doing plenty of walking) around the city streets of Kyoto and Tokyo. This destination, like many others around the world, is best explored on foot and using the same systems that the locals use to get around. While your host will be with you every step of the way, you will have plenty of freedom to explore at your own pace and door-to-door transfers (other than those listed in the inclusions) will not be used as primary transport for this trip. Prepare to immerse yourself into a whole new Japanese adventure and explore exactly like I do on my own adventures!

Can I bring a friend?
Yes absolutely! The more the merrier. If you have a travel buddy that you would like to experience this with, be sure to include their name on your registration form once you’ve signed up. This will ensure that you are paired together for your room share. In order to grab the Bring A Friend Discount, contact sherilyn@thetraveladdicts.co.uk and provide the names of both parties and you will be sent the discount code to book.

Do I have to share a room?
If you would prefer to upgrade to a private suite, you’ll need to be quick as we only have two private rooms available. Where possible we will do our best to supply twin rooms, however this is not always possible for every accommodation style. Our Private Rooms are purely first come, first served and the upgrade cost will need to be made in order to secure your private room. If you decide to select this option later, the room upgrade for the duration of the Tokyo Dreams trip will be £795. The upgrade cost for the Full Japan Experience will be £995.

When is the final balance due?
The final balance is by the 28th July 2024

What date do I need to arrive into Japan?
You will need to fly into either Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND) or Narita International Airport (NRT) on the 23rd September and depart on the 29th September (or 2nd October if joining the Animé Chapter extension) to be eligible for the airport transfers. Please arrive before 5pm on arrival day, and depart after 5pm on departure day if possible. Haneda is the recommended airport.

Does this include international flights? What if I would like flights to be arranged?
The cost of this trip does NOT include your flights, so be sure to factor that into your trip cost. You can either book using a website such as Skyscanner, or we can direct you to a registered travel agent who will be more than happy to help and alleviate any stress when it comes to booking flights. will need to fly into either Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND) or Narita International Airport (NRT) and we will arrange for transport to collect you. Haneda is the recommended airport.

Do I need a visa?
Depending on where you will be traveling from, there are likely to be visa requirements so please be sure to check this beforehand. To look at up to date UK GOV requirements please check here: https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/japan

Can children come?
All guests will need to be over 18 to join one of our trips.

Who is this trip best suited to?
Any age is welcome! However, based on the activities in the trip and previous Travel Addicts groups we would probably recommend between 25 to 45.

Is this group trip accessible for those with physical disabilities?
If you have a disability or condition that you have concerns about, please contact us directly on sherilyn@thetraveladdicts.co.uk so that we can see if the trip would be suitable for you personally. Some areas that we will be visiting have a lot of inclines and uneven landscapes so it may be challenging, however, based on your personal situation, we would love to see how we can make this work for you.
